He’s back! Mammootty’s viral photo shuts down health rumours in style ahead of Bazooka

Malayalam cinema legend Mammootty has put an end to recent health speculations by appearing in a stylish new street-style photo that has gone viral online. Shared by photographer and director Shani Shaki, the 73-year-old actor was seen donning a white T-shirt, denim jeans, sunglasses, and a black bandana — radiating confidence and charisma.
The photo was captioned “Kathatte” (Let it be a fire), and fans flooded the comments with admiration. Remarks such as “You know… it’s Mammukka” and “Tell them… he is back!” reflected excitement over the veteran star’s appearance. The picture arrives amid swirling rumours claiming the actor was suffering from cancer, which his team has denied.
Concerns about Mammootty’s health intensified after a Sabarimala prayer receipt in the name “Muhammad Kutty” (his real name) surfaced online. It was later clarified that fellow superstar Mohanlal had made a prayer offering for Mammootty’s well-being. During a press meet in Chennai for his film Empuraan, Mohanlal addressed the issue, stating, “He had a minor health issue, but that’s normal for everyone. There is nothing to worry about.”
Mohanlal further expressed his support, saying, “What’s wrong in praying for him?” and reaffirmed their deep friendship.
On the professional front, Mammootty is preparing for the release of Bazooka, an action-thriller directed by Deeno Dennis starring Mammootty and Gautham Vasudev Menon in the lead roles. In the film, he will portray a businessman who joins forces with a police officer to track a serial killer. The film is expected to be a high-octane return for the megastar, reaffirming his stature in Malayalam cinema.
