Malayalam Cinema shines; 'Vaazha 2' and 'Drishyam 3' enter Indian box office top 10

Kochi: Malayalam Cinema is making giant strides in the Indian film industry's box office collections. During the first five months of this year, Malayalam's market share exceeded 10 per cent, a notable increase from previous years when it consistently remained below the 10 per cent mark.
While Hindi Cinema holds the top spot with a 43 per cent market share, Telugu Cinema ranks second with 17 per cent and Tamil Cinema stands third with 13 per cent. Over the five-month period, the Hindi film 'Dhurandhar' topped the overall collection charts, raking in ₹1,277 crore.
Among Malayalam releases, 'Vaazha 2' secured the seventh position overall with a collection of ₹141 crore, followed closely by 'Drishyam 3' in eighth place with ₹133 crore. Looking at the figures for May alone, the Tamil film 'Karuppu' took the top spot with a collection of ₹229 crore, while 'Drishyam 3' claimed the second position with ₹133 crore. Meanwhile, 'Athiradi' with ₹44 crore and 'Patriot' with ₹37 crore occupied the ninth and tenth positions respectively.
