‘Malayalam cinema runs on talent and potential, not…’: Esther’s strong statement

Actor Esther Anil has come out strongly, slamming a section of people on the internet for making lewd, derogatory, and regressive comments against actors.
In a strong-worded Instagram story, Esther said, "Can we please get over this whole 'stripping for roles' nonsense? Tell me, how many talented actresses in Malayalam cinema today got where they are by sexualising themselves on social media? None. And even if someone did, why should we care? Malayalam cinema still runs on talent and potential, not looks or nudity...
Some people really have no life. What is wrong with you, brother... or maybe it's attention-seeking behavior to gain more followers. (Anyway, let it be). Sorry, I was just in the mood to call this out today. I usually don't, but it felt fun."
She is currently preparing to appear before the audience again in the Jeethu Joseph-Mohanlal team's Drishyam 3. The film is scheduled to release on May 21 this year. It is produced by Antony Perumbavoor under the banner of Aashirvad Cinemas.
The first Drishyam, one of Malayalam's all-time best thrillers, was released in 2013. The audience saw the next chapter of Georgekutty and his family's story eight years later in 2021. Since it was the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, Drishyam 2 reached viewers as an OTT release. Despite being an OTT release, fans welcomed the film with open arms.
