‘Lost our dear brother’: Mohanlal, Suresh Gopi condoles death of actor Santhosh Nayar

Union Minister and actor Suresh Gopi, along with actor Mohanlal, paid tribute to actor Santhosh K. Nayar, who passed away in a road accident. Suresh Gopi wrote on Facebook that the void created by Santhosh’s demise is beyond words. Mohanlal also recalled that Santhosh had been a close friend and brother to him since their college days.

“More than just a relative or a friend, Santhosh was like a brother who was always with me throughout my life’s journey. The void created by the loss of my dear one is beyond words. With tears, I bid farewell to my dear friend… I pray for eternal peace for his soul. Tributes,” Suresh Gopi wrote.

“It is a deeply distressing piece of news that I heard this morning. My dear Santhosh, with whom I had a very close personal relationship, passed away in a road accident. Santhosh was my junior in college. Since those days, he has been a good friend and brother to me. We have worked together in numerous films. He was a strong personality and the owner of a kind heart who earned everyone’s affection. With sorrow over his untimely passing, I offer my tributes,” Mohanlal said.

Actor Santhosh K. Nayar died in an accident involving a truck and an Innova car at MC Road in Adoor, near Puthussery. His wife sustained serious injuries.

The accident occurred at 6:15 am on Tuesday. Santhosh and his wife were travelling from Thiruvananthapuram to Kottayam. Santhosh was driving the vehicle.

The Innova car collided with an oncoming truck. Locals cut open the vehicle and rescued both Santhosh and his wife. They were immediately taken to a private hospital in Adoor, but he was declared dead. The truck driver was also injured.

He had acted in over a hundred films as a villain, comedian, supporting actor, and hero. He made his acting debut in the film Ithu Njangalude Katha, directed by P. G. Viswambharan. He had been active in the film industry since 1982. His notable role alongside Mohanlal in Irupatham Noottandu was widely appreciated. His most recent film was Mohiniyattam.
