Malayalam cinema’s beloved star Mammootty marked his 74th birthday on Sunday, with celebrations coloured by joy at his recovery and return to full health. Colleagues and admirers alike extended warm wishes to the veteran actor, while the Mammootty Fans’ Association organised special programmes to mark the occasion.

Close aide S. George noted that the day itself was being observed without any major festivities. Mammootty, who had taken a break from films to undergo treatment in Chennai, has since been declared completely healthy by doctors.

Industry sources suggest that once back in action, the legendary actor is likely to join director Mahesh Narayanan’s upcoming project, signalling his swift return to the big screen.

Legendary acting career

Over his remarkable career spanning more than fifty years, he has appeared in more than 430 films across Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, and English.

The actor has won three National Awards for Best Actor along with numerous state and popular honours, cementing his status as a cinematic icon. Despite his age, he continues to be one of the most sought-after actors across industries.

He will soon be seen in a refreshing role in his much-anticipated film Kalamkaval. Expectations are high as the movie marks the megastar’s return to the big screen after a brief hiatus.

A man who has always been in sync with fashion, style, and glamour, he is fondly referred to by his fans as the ‘ageless superstar’.

Beyond cinema, Mammootty is also admired for his quiet philanthropic contributions, which reflect the same humility and grace that define his illustrious career.
