Screening of 'Kerala Story': Latin Catholic publication slams Idukki Diocese

Kochi: 'Jeevanandham,' a Malayalam weekly published under the auspices of an episcopal commission of the Kerala Region Latin Catholic Bishops’ Council, has criticized the screening of 'The Kerala Story' by the Idukki Diocese of the Syro-Malabar Church.
It asserts that when church leaders assume authority without understanding the heritage of Christians in Kerala, they prioritize Vicharadhara (the Malayalam translation of the book 'Bunch of Thoughts' by RSS ideologue MS Golwalkar) over the Bible.
They allege that the authorities of the Idukki Diocese are playing with fire by screening this movie and portraying love as a trap. Latin Church argues that love is the foundation of existence in this world. Lord Jesus loved the world so much that he sacrificed his life; these leaders cannot overlook this fundamental aspect.
According to 'Jeevanandham,' the movie propagates the Sangh Parivar’s claim that 32,000 young Christian girls were forced to convert to Islam and are now living in Islamic states. "Those who made the film lack information about these girls," it states.
The April issue of 'Jeevanandham' highlighted that progressive individuals have rejected this film, which spreads hate among the people. The publication also noted that Kerala is considered one of the most progressive states in the country and has always been praised for its humanitarian and religious harmony.
