'There may have been issues when Manu was alive': Nyna on Ahaana's absence from 'Nancy Rani' promo

Kochi: Actress Ahaana Krishna was absent from the promotion of the upcoming Malayalam movie Nancy Rani, starring Arjun Ashokan, Aju Varghese, and Lal, on Monday.
Directed by the late Joseph Manu James, Nancy Rani was put on hold after his untimely demise in 2023. However, with the efforts of the late director's wife, Nyna, the film is now finally set for release. The absence of Ahaana Krishna from the press meet, however, has sparked controversy.
In response, Nyna addressed the issue during the press meeting, explaining that while there had been minor issues between Ahaana and her late husband, those incidents happened three years ago. Nyna emphasized that, given the circumstances and her husband's passing, Ahaana should have participated in the promotion.
She stressed that Ahaana should have participated in the promotional activities out of respect, given that Joseph Manu James is no longer alive.
“I had spoken to Ahaana. The PRO and production team also tried to reach out. There may have been issues when Manu was alive, but those have been forgotten in the past three years. Given the circumstances, humanitarian consideration should prevail. She should have cooperated. When the lead actor of a film, who plays a significant role, refuses to cooperate with marketing or promotions, it speaks volumes,” she said.
Nyna further expressed that they had already fulfilled all the obligations and expectations as per the agreement, which included Ahana’s participation in the promotion.
“We have given everything we promised. As Aju Chettan (actor Aju Varghese) mentioned, it’s better to let things go as they are than to force something. If there are any losses, we will bear them ourselves. We have asked for what is possible, but beyond that, we are unsure how to proceed,” she added.
Joseph Manu James passed away unexpectedly on February 25, 2023. His death came at a critical time, just as Nancy Rani was gearing up for its release.
