Kochi: Kukku Parameswaran on Friday, expressed her delight at being elected general secretary of the star organisation Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA). Kukku told the media that AMMA is progressing with the changes in the world and will continue to move forward through dialogue with everyone. She added that all members are AMMA’s children, regardless of gender.

“We are in this together. We will not move forward alone. It was never like that before, and it will not be... All the changes in the world have happened in this way. Let us also grow similarly. We are moving forward with the changes in the world. Give us a day. Here, we are children, not women. AMMA has only children. It is the media that has labelled them daughters and sons. See us as children,” Kukku said.

“All problems hold the same value. They are on the same level. We will address them together, not alone. Not only the executive members, but all 506 members of AMMA will move forward through discussion. We will prove it. Give us time. Today has not even passed, and there are still 3 years. Do you want me to tell you more of the truth you are about to see?” she added.

For the first time in the organisation’s 31-year history, women hold the top positions in AMMA. Shwetha Menon is president. Lakshmipriya and Jayan Cherthala were elected vice presidents, and Unni Sivapal was elected treasurer, following a hard-fought election. Actress Ansiba Hasan was earlier elected unopposed as joint secretary. The new governing body has taken the oath and assumed office.
