Kochi (Kerala): A Kerala court has granted bail to Malayalam director Sanal Kumar Sasidharan, who was recently taken into custody by Kochi police in connection with an alleged online stalking and harassment case involving a leading woman actor.

According to police, Sanal Kumar was intercepted at Mumbai airport on Sunday after arriving from the United States, following a lookout circular that had been issued against him in January 2025. He was later handed over to a two-member team from Elamakkara police station in Kochi by Mumbai Sahar police on Monday.

The case was originally registered after the actress filed a complaint accusing him of online stalking. Despite this, Sanal Kumar has remained vocal on social media, including from abroad, repeatedly alleging that the actress’s life was under threat from the “Mafia in the film industry”. He has also claimed that the same forces were targeting him.

This is not the first time the director has faced legal action in the matter. In May 2022, he was arrested by Kochi police on similar charges of stalking the actress, before being granted bail.
