Kerala CM Vijayan offers condolences on director Harikumar's passing

The Chief Minister of Kerala, Pinarayi Vijayan, expressed his condolences on Monday following the death of acclaimed filmmaker Harikumar.
"Harikumar was a significant figure in the Malayalam film industry, recognised for his adept fusion of artistic and commercial values. He played a pivotal role in bridging the gap between mainstream and artistic cinema, demonstrating the potential for alternative cinema free from commercial compromises. With a career spanning forty years, he presented eighteen films covering diverse themes," stated the Chief Minister.
He also highlighted the critically acclaimed and nationally awarded films directed by Harikumar.
Harikumar succumbed to cancer today, passing away at a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram, where he was undergoing treatment.
Throughout his illustrious career, Harikumar enriched the Malayalam film industry with his exceptional talent. He penned the narratives of over 20 films, crafting stories that deeply resonated with audiences. From screenplay to dialogue, his contributions left an indelible mark on the cinematic landscape.
