Director Sanal Kumar Sasidharan has made his film Kayattam, starring Manju Warrier, available for free online. The film was uploaded to Vimeo and Google Drive, with the links shared widely on social media for public access.

Sasidharan, revealed that Kayattam was entirely shot on an iPhone in the Himalayas in 2019. The full version of the film, complete with subtitles, is now available for viewers to watch at no cost. Manju Warrier, who stars in the film, also co-produced it.

This release comes after Sasidharan's previous free online release of Vazhakku, starring Tovino Thomas. In a Facebook live session, Sasidharan explained the circumstances surrounding the delayed release of Kayattam and claimed that he had been in touch with Manju Warrier, only to learn that her life was under threat. Sasidharan, who is currently facing legal action, made this revelation from Georgia, where he has been residing.

According to Sasidharan, he was made aware of the threats to Manju Warrier’s life after attempting to contact her regarding the film's release. He further stated that he had maintained regular phone contact with her over the past two years. The director also shared two audio recordings of their conversations to support his claims.

Sasidharan urged Manju Warrier to withdraw the legal case against him and to release the film. However, he claimed that Manju Warrier responded by stating that the situation was beyond her control and that the threats extended to her daughter as well. Sasidharan has not been able to speak directly to Manju Warrier since the audio recordings surfaced.

It may be noted that Sasidharan faced legal action after he penned a series of Facebook posts in 2022 claiming that the actress' life was in danger and she was under the control of certain people with vested interests. The new development come at this juncture.
