A video of actress Kajol at a Durga Puja pandal in Mumbai has gone viral, sparking debate online over “inappropriate touching” by reportedly her bodyguard — but many argue the incident has been misjudged, pointing out that Kajol is often targeted for her carefree and clumsy nature.

During Durga Puja 2025 celebrations in North Mumbai on Dashami (October 2), Kajol was seen coming down a staircase after rituals when she briefly lost balance. Her bodyguard, who was already assisting her way, stepped forward to hold her.

The moment, captured on video, triggered social media speculation, with some accusing the guard of “inappropriate touching.” Critical comments such as “Who is that guy?” and “This looks disgusting” quickly surfaced online with some commenting ‘Is this even real?’

Where an other video from a far angle shows the person is hold her hands to protect her from falling and she smiles and share a warm conversation with him soon after.

Judgments versus reality

Supporters, however, argued that the video shows nothing more than a reflex action to prevent Kajol from falling. The clip reveals Kajol looking startled — a natural reaction of someone who almost stumbled — but does not clearly show anything beyond the guard holding her to steady her.

Observers highlighted that in chaotic festive crowds, everyone especially security staff often need to act instantly, and judgments based on a single frame or angle can be misleading.

Kajol, known for her loud, carefree and fun-loving personality, has long been a target of online criticism. Fans noted that her clumsiness is well-known, making the stumble unsurprising. Many stressed that the guard’s action appeared respectful and protective, yet was unfairly dragged into controversy by selective interpretations.

The incident highlights how social media often magnifies isolated moments, leaving room for personal bias, misreading and harsh judgments. What might have been a simple stumble and protective reflex in real life became a polarising talking point online.
