Jyothika outperformed me in acting in that film: Vijay’s candid confession

Amid Vijay’s ‘impactful’ political entry, his yesteryear film Kushi, directed by SJ Suryah, is set for a grand re-release on September 25, marking its 25th anniversary. Jyothika plays the female lead in the film.
On the work front, Jyothika continues her stellar run, recently starring in the critically acclaimed Netflix series Dabba Cartel and having several other exciting projects lined up.
However, what is now gaining attention are Vijay’s words about his fellow star Jyothika, from an interview he gave to Cinema Today years ago.
In a candid reflection on their performances, Vijay said, "In the film, Jyothika is elegant; her playfulness, intelligence, acting, and dancing all convey a sharp sense of timing. Naturally, her character is bound to be loved by everyone. My role is also significant in the film, but if you watch the entire movie, you’ll notice that Jyothika has outperformed me in acting!"
Apparently, Vijay worked on Kushi simultaneously while filming Fazil's Kannukkul Nilavu, which also starred Shalini. In the interview, the actor opened up about juggling between the roles, portraying characters with very different psyches at the same time.
Kushi featured an ensemble cast including Mumtaj, Vijayakumar, and Vivek.
The Telugu version of the film, also titled Kushi, released a year later in 2001, featuring Pawan Kalyan and Bhumika Chawla in lead roles.
Meanwhile, Jyothika continues her cinematic endeavors, while Vijay has currently decided to retire from movies as he enters full-time politics. His final movie before the political career, Jana Nayagan, directed by H. Vinoth, is set to release early next year, featuring a plethora of stars including Pooja Hegde, Mamitha Baiju, Bobby Deol, and Priyamani. (With inputs from Agencies)
