Actor Jomol plays down Hema Report allegations, claims 'no compromise calls or door knocking'

Kochi: Even as many skeletons are stumbling out of the closet in the wake of release of Hema Committtee Report, AMMA executive member and actor Jomol chose to play down the sexual harassment allegations raised in the report stating that she never had to face any ill-treatment or oppression in her acting career.
"No one has ever spoken bad to me. I have been acting in films for a long time. No such experience till date," she said, adding, "No one has knocked on my door or asked to compromise if I want to do a film."
She was speaking to the media during the press meet called by AMMA to respond to the Hema panel report, which looked into the injustices meted out to the women in the Malayalam film industry.
During the press meet. AMMA (Association of Malayalam Movie Artists ) general secretary Siddique had expressed concern over the media portrayals that paint the entire industry in a negative light. He emphasised that AMMA is not implicated in the report's findings. Siddique highlighted that any crimes should be addressed by the police, and stressed that AMMA’s involvement is limited to ensuring internal protocols.
In contrast, AMMA president Jagadish has called for a detailed investigation into the allegations in the report, criticising the absence of specific names and urging that all reported misconduct be thoroughly examined. He also stressed that the issue of the "casting couch" and other allegations should be taken seriously and not dismissed as isolated incidents.
