Janhvi Kapoor breaks silence on plastic surgery, warns: ‘If it goes wrong, that would be the worst thing ever’

Actress Janhvi Kapoor has candidly addressed the long-standing rumours surrounding her appearance and plastic surgery during a recent episode of Two Much With Kajol and Twinkle, where she appeared alongside filmmaker Karan Johar.
Known for being frequently trolled as a “nepo kid” and speculated to have undergone cosmetic procedures, Janhvi finally opened up about plastic surgery and the pressures of unrealistic beauty standards in today’s social media-driven world.
“I don’t believe in gatekeeping,” Janhvi said, sharing her philosophy with viewers. “I was one of the young girls who was very impressionable with the onset of social media and seeing everyone being judged and look in a certain way. And I don’t want to perpetuate this idea of perfection. I’m a big believer of you do you, do whatever makes you happy. I would be very happy to be a completely open book about things.”
Addressing viral videos and online speculations about her undergoing “buffalo-plasty” — a cosmetic procedure that enhances the upper lip, Janhvi explained her decision with clarity and caution. “I think I have been very intelligent, conservative and proper about what I have done. Of course I had the guidance of my mom and I’d like to share that,” she revealed. “Also as a cautionary tale because if a young girl sees a video like this and decides mujhe bhi ye buffalo-plasty karna hai, and if something goes wrong, that would be the worst thing ever. I think transparency is important.”
For those unfamiliar, buffalo-plasty is a procedure that enlarges the upper lip by making an incision under the nose to lift the lip and improve the distance between the nose and mouth, resulting in a fuller lip appearance.
Janhvi also shared a heartfelt lesson from her late mother, the legendary Sridevi, “She always told me that beauty is meant to enhance your confidence, not define your worth. If you ever decide to change something, make sure it’s for yourself, not because of fear or comparison.”
On the work front, Janhvi Kapoor was recently seen in Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari alongside Varun Dhawan, Rohit Saraf, and Sanya Malhotra, which released on October 2. She also featured in Param Sundari, released on August 29, starring Sidharth Malhotra.
