Chennai: It’s Mammootty’s 74th birthday, and fans, co-stars, and family have been sharing heartfelt wishes. Amid the greetings, his son Dulquer Salmaan added a special twist, linking the celebration to Moothon, a character partially seen in Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra.

Dulquer, who is also the producer of Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra, which is running successfully in theatres, shared a poster wishing happy birthday to Moothon. In the film, the character appears only partially — via a hand, voice, and references by other characters — creating curiosity among fans. Following Dulquer’s post, many commented that it now seems official: Moothon is Mammootty, sparking excitement across social media.

Later, Dulquer posted a picture of Mammootty holding a camera, along with a poetic birthday message:

"Dear Sun, Sometimes when you shine so bright the rain clouds come to protect you. Their love for you is so strong that they test the depths of our love for you. So we prayed because we cannot survive without your warmth… At long last the prayers got too much for the rain clouds. They caved. They burst with thunderous sound and blinding light… They rained and showered all the love they have for you, upon us… Happy Birthday Sun. We love you to the Moon."

Actors join the birthday celebrations

Actor Mohanlal shared a candid photo of himself with Mammootty, sitting together on a couch, captioned: "Happy Birthday Dear Ichakka".

Actress Malavika Mohanan shared a throwback picture remembering her first audition linked to Mammootty’s family. She wrote: "This was my first ever ‘audition’ in my life… They were casting for ‘Pattam Pole’ at the time with Dulquer and Mammukka spotted me at a set I was visiting and recommended me for the film and that’s how I landed my first role ever."

She added: "I can’t help but think of where it all started and the man who was responsible for me foraying into this world which I wasn’t really planning on otherwise. Happy birthday @mammootty sir... Thank you for bringing me into the magical world of movies."

Kalyani Priyadarshan, who appears alongside Mammootty in Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra, recalled: "I remember the day he walked onto our set as a surprise. I think all of us instantly dropped anything in our hands the moment we saw him. I was jealous of the boys who managed to grab pictures with him, while I was stuck in costume and couldn’t."

She further added: "While we were all so tense, his aura was what it always is (light, funny, effortless). That’s just the kind of person he is - someone who inspires without trying, and reminds you what it means to be human. I just hope with this film, we’ve made him proud. Happy birthday to our Moothon..."
