Kozhikode: The closing ceremony of the Beypore Fest in Kozhikode saw a lively atmosphere as actors Basil Joseph and Soubin Shahir captivated the audience with their presence. Both actors were in attendance to promote their upcoming film Pravinkoodu Shappu, which is set to release on January 16.

During the event, a humorous exchange took place when Minister Mohammed Riyas posed a question to Basil Joseph, prompting laughter from the audience. Riyas asked, "It has already become hard to tolerate you, and now you're saying you're going to play the role of a police officer for the first time. How are we supposed to tolerate you now?" Basil responded with a witty remark, "Well, once this is over, I don't know if the police will all come after me! But I can assure you that I play a good, exemplary police officer in the film," which was met with applause from the crowd.

The actor further explained, "The film is a suspense thriller that revolves around a murder and the subsequent investigation. It will entertain the audience with action and dark humour from start to finish, keeping them on the edge of their seats."

Reflecting on his role in the film, Basil in a lighter tone said, "Many superstars have played police officers in films, but I too have always wished to don the police uniform like in Singham. Before shooting, I asked my trainer to get me in shape in two weeks. However, he doubted it was possible in such a short time. Nonetheless, I feel that it has worked out well in the end."

The first-look posters of Pravinkoodu Shappu sparked curiosity, featuring Soubin Shahir playing cards at a toddy shop and Basil Joseph, dressed in a police officer's uniform, deep in thought. These intriguing visuals quickly captured attention and were widely shared.

The film, produced by Anwar Rasheed under the banner of Anwar Rasheed Entertainments, is directed by debutant Sreeraj Sreenivasan. It has been shot in Ernakulam and Thrissur. The film also stars Chandini Sreedharan, Shivajith, Shabareesh Varma, Niyas, Revathi, Vijo Amaravathy, Ram Kumar, Sandeep, and Prathapan K.S. in supporting roles.

Shyju Khalid is the cinematographer. After his hits Thallumaala, Falimy, and Premalu, Vishnu Vijay provides the music for this dark comedy thriller. The film will be distributed by A&A Entertainments following the success of Aavesham directed by Jithu Madhavan, starring Fahadh Faasil.

With its intriguing premise, star-studded cast, and suspense-filled narrative, Pravinkoodu Shappu is one of the most anticipated films of the year.
