‘Is it right to enter a consensual relationship and then accuse the man of harassment?’: Seema G Nair backs Rahul Mamkootathil

Actor Seema G. Nair has come under sharp criticism on social media after voicing support for MLA Rahul Mamkootathil, who is facing multiple allegations of sexual harassment.

The actor, in a Facebook post backing the legislator, attracted both supportive and opposing comments. Among these, one particular exchange has drawn public attention.

A user commented on her post asking whether she would have the courage to host Rahul Mamkootathil at her home for a day. Seema G. Nair promptly replied, “Yes, I would.”

In response to another comment, the actress argued:

“Is it right to enter into a consensual relationship and then, after years, accuse the man of harassment? Only last month we all heard the news of a 75-year-old man spending 285 days in jail over a false POCSO case, didn’t we?”

Referring to the ongoing debates and protests against Rahul Mamkootathil, Seema G. Nair said it reminded her of what she described as the ‘character assassination’ of former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy.

“No one ever strays from the path alone. If mistakes are made, both parties are equal participants. Then how can one side alone be blamed?” she asked.
