Indian 2, starring Kamal Haasan, has been panned by audiences and critics alike and may well end up as one of the biggest flops in the career of ‘Ulaganayakan’ and director Shankar. Amidst high expectations, the sequel to the 1996 blockbuster hit theatres on July 12. Negative reviews started flooding social media right after the initial shows, with many terming the movie unbearable and nearly ridiculous.

The high-budget movie features an ensemble cast including Kamal Haasan, Rakul Preet Singh, Siddharth, Samuthirakani, and S J Suryah. With the film struggling at the box office, its makers, Lyca Productions, have announced that the running time has been trimmed by 12 minutes based on public request.

The shortened version will be screened in theatres starting from July 17. Confirming the news, the production company shared a poster which read, “We heard you.”

Meanwhile, Indian 3 is expected to hit theatres next year. Cinephiles are eagerly anticipating the third instalment, hoping for a ‘grand’ return of their beloved Indian Thatha to the screens. (With inputs from agencies)
