'Good Bad Ugly' in trouble: Ilaiyaraaja sends legal notice to makers for unauthorized use of songs

Legendary music composer Ilaiyaraaja has sent a legal notice to the producers of Ajith Kumar’s latest film Good Bad Ugly, alleging unauthorised use of his songs.
The notice, addressed to Mythri Movie Makers, demands ₹5 crore as compensation for copyright infringement.
According to Ilaiyaraaja, the film features three of his compositions that were used without obtaining prior permission. These include songs from the films, Nattupura Pattu (1996), Sakalakala Vallavan (1982), and Vikram (1986). In the notice, Ilaiyaraaja asserts that he is the rightful owner of these songs and holds the legal rights to them.
He alleges that the tracks were distorted and commercially exploited without paying him royalties, which constitutes a violation of copyright laws. The composer has demanded that the songs be removed from the film and that the producers issue an unconditional apology, along with a compensation of ₹5 crore.
The notice also warns that if the demands are not met within seven days, the matter will be pursued through legal action.
