‘I won’t betray him…’: GV Prakash’s open talk about Dhanush

Kollywood superstar Dhanush is currently promoting his directorial venture, Idli Kadai, which is set to release on October 1. The film, featuring Dhanush in the lead role, also stars Nithya Menen, Arun Vijay, and Shalini Pandey, with music composed by G.V. Prakash Kumar. The audio launch, held at Chennai’s Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, was a star-studded affair attended by several prominent celebrities.

A highlight of the event was G.V. Prakash Kumar’s candid revelation about his equation with Dhanush. Speaking on stage, the actor-composer recalled being offered a role as one of three brothers in Dhanush’s 2024 film Raayan. He refused the role because the character was meant to betray Dhanush on screen. “I won’t betray my Nanban even in a film,” he said.

The brotherly roles in Raayan were eventually portrayed by Kalidas Jayaram and Sundeep Kishan. Idli Kadai marks Dhanush’s 52nd film and his fourth directorial project, following hits such as Pa Paandi, Raayan, and Nilavuku En Mel Ennadi Kobam.

G.V. Prakash’s revelation underscores the strong camaraderie and mutual respect between two of Tamil cinema’s biggest stars, highlighting the warmth that defines their enduring friendship.
