I felt they needed divorce more than anything: Daya Sujith on Manju Pillai-Sujith Vaasudev's separation

Daya Sujith, daughter of actress Manju Pillai and cinematographer Sujith Vaasudev, says she was the one who supported her parents the most during their divorce. In an interview with Rekha Menon, Daya said she had asked those who opposed the split why her parents were unhappy in their relationship and why the people around insisted on staying together.

“Both of them came to me and told me that they were getting divorced. So I was the person who supported them the most. I was the one who thought they needed a divorce more than anything else. People said that society would say many things. They said that since my mother is a woman, people would say different things. Both of them were unhappy. Why were they insisting on staying together?” Daya said.

“I felt like both of them were disappearing on their own. I didn't want to see that. If they were happy with the divorce, that would be better. I supported them completely. I told them not to pay attention to what people say,” she added.

Last year, Sujith revealed in an interview that the couple had separated. They have been estranged since 2020. Daya is the only daughter of the couple, who married in 2000.
