‘I began my career at Doordarshan; sad that certain media outlets didn’t bother to find the truth’: Krishnakumar

Actor and BJP leader leader G. Krishnakumar marked his 57th birthday with a deeply emotional note shared on social media, reflecting on what he described as the most difficult period he and his family have ever faced.
Krishnakumar, a veteran of Malayalam cinema and television, spoke candidly about a recent crisis that deeply affected his personal and public life. “At 57, this birthday feels different—there’s a sense of comfort and beauty, almost like the beginning of a new life,” he wrote.
Despite having faced numerous ups and downs over the years, Krishnakumar described the recent ordeal as exceptionally challenging. “This year, my family and I went through the hardest crisis of our lives. The charges filed in the FIR were extremely severe,” he said, referencing a recent controversy that had drawn media scrutiny.
Meanwhile, in a latest development, Police confirmed that three former employees of Diya Krishna’s store, ‘Oh by Ozy’, were involved in a ₹69 lakh financial fraud. Investigations into their bank transactions, phone data, and CCTV footage revealed misappropriation. The accused claimed they gave the money to Diya, but no evidence supported their statement.
Taking to social media, Krishnakumar expressed disappointment at certain media channels, saying, “Even though I have many friends from my 36-year-long career that began with Doordarshan, some media houses didn’t bother to find the truth. For two to three hours, they put us in an unimaginable position—especially my daughter Diya.”
However, Krishnakumar added that the public support in Kerala brought about a turning point. “Kerala society stood by the truth, and when people responded in our favour, everything changed. This experience helped us realise many things. Our family is blessed. A majority of people in this world still stand for the truth,” he wrote.
In the note, Krishnakumar also paid tribute to the strength and wisdom of his wife and children, saying they were far more resilient than he had ever imagined. “There was a moment when I truly felt I had succeeded as a father,” he added.

While he refrained from elaborating further, Krishnakumar ended the note with a message of gratitude. “I thank God for the health and life I’ve had so far. And I thank my dear brothers and sisters who gave me the strength to rise from what felt like rock bottom, along with my family.”
Krishnakumar has been a familiar face in Malayalam television and films for decades and has more recently been active in politics as a BJP leader. His daughter Diya Krishnakumar is also a known figure in the media.
