‘Happy 7th anniversary, 'Geetha Govindam': Rashmika Mandanna shares memories and upcoming projects

Mumbai: Seven years ago today, Rashmika Mandanna and Vijay Deverakonda’s romantic 'Geetha Govindam' hit cinemas.

Celebrating the film’s release anniversary, Rashmika shared a couple of behind-the-scenes photos from Parasuram’s directorial with her Instagram followers.

“I can’t believe I still have all these pictures from 7 years ago. 'Geetha Govindam' will always, ALWAYS be the most special film,” she wrote on Instagram.

Recalling her co-stars and crew, she added: “I was just remembering everyone who was involved in making this film, and it’s been far too long since we’ve all met… I hope they are doing super well. I can’t believe it’s been 7 years already, but happy 7th anniversary, 'Geetha Govindam'.” 

The film follows Vijay (played by Vijay Deverakonda), who falls in love with Geetha (played by Rashmika) at first sight. However, a misunderstanding leads Geetha to believe Vijay is not the right match for her. While Geetha faces pressure from her family to marry soon due to her grandfather’s health issues, Vijay struggles with his feelings and fears being just a choice for her.

Produced by BA2 Pictures, 'Geetha Govindam' went on to become a box-office success.

Meanwhile, in an exclusive conversation with IANS, Rashmika spoke about her upcoming projects – 'The Girlfriend' by Rahul Ravindran and 'Thama' opposite Ayushmann Khurrana.

Speaking about her Telugu drama, she said: “The Girlfriend is a very special project we’ve been working on, and I truly can’t wait for you all to see it. 'Nadhive' (music video) released recently, and the love you’ve shown has meant so much. Thank you for that!”

On 'Thama', the 29-year-old actress added: “'Thama' is another project close to my heart. It’s exciting, fun, and will definitely keep you on the edge of your seat. No spoilers for now!”
