From beat duty to studio: Kerala cops launch viral romantic music album| WATCH

Thiruvananthapuram: Ajith Dev, 49, never imagined that the lyrics he had written and composed in his mind would one day become a full-fledged album until his posting as an ASI at Nemom Police Station in Thiruvananthapuram. Today, the album is being hailed as a musical treat that narrates the romantic story of a police officer, earning applause from fans.
The lyrics, music, and production were all handled by police personnel, with officers themselves taking on acting roles. The album, 'Maunam Pookkunna Neram', is an effort by the Nemom Police Station to counter stereotypes of police hooliganism. Ajith Dev, a native of Neyyattinkara, was inspired to bring his three-year-old composition to life after meeting Civil Police Officer S Binoop at the station. He cast Malappuram CPO Saboora Beegum, a colleague and acquaintance, as the heroine.
Set against the scenic backdrop of Ponmudi, the album tells the tale of a policeman who falls in love with a senior female officer. The production was carried out alongside the officers’ regular duties. “Although I have done modelling, I never imagined I would act or that the album would go viral. When Ajith Dev sir called me from Nemom to Malappuram, the circumstances were challenging, but I promised to give it a try,” said CPO Saboora, a native of Malayinkeezhu.
“Everyone was apprehensive when two people with no prior acting experience were cast. But the way they brought the images from Ajith’s mind to life so effortlessly made the album perfect,” Saboora added.
