L2: Empuraan's 'Phir Zinda' drops and fans can't get enough: 'Ente moone... oru toofan vibe!'

The excitement for L2: Empuraan, the much-anticipated sequel to the blockbuster Lucifer, is reaching a fever pitch with the release of the film's first single "Phir Zinda”. Composed, arranged and produced by Deepak Dev, with lyrics by Tanishk Nabar and soulful vocals by Anand Bhaskar, the track has already garnered massive attention and praise from fans and music enthusiasts alike.
The lyrical video of the song, which offers a glimpse into the film’s musical vibe, has lit up social media, with fans flooding the comment sections to express their enthusiasm. One user excitedly wrote, "Super...Now it's all over... hype @ peak," while another added, "Imagine experiencing this song in theatres." Music aficionados are also lauding the work of Deepak Dev, with comments like "Deepak Dev supremacy" and "Ente moone... Oru toofan vibe" highlighting the track's impact.
As Empuraan gears up for its release, the excitement is further fueled by the confirmation from Director Prithviraj Sukumaran that the sequel will stand on its own, ensuring that newcomers to the Lucifer franchise will not feel lost. Prithviraj, during a recent press meet in Chennai, reassured fans that even if someone hasn’t watched the first part, they would still be able to completely understand the plot, story and narrative of the second part.
“We were very particular about making Empuraan a standalone film,” said Prithviraj, highlighting the effort made by him and writer Murali Gopy to ensure that the second part could be enjoyed independently. "Even if you haven't watched the first part, you will completely understand the plot, story and narrative of the second part."
The director also added that while the film stands on its own, there may be moments where fans who have watched Lucifer will find additional significance in certain sequences or dialogues. "If someone claps in the theatre while you are watching the film, you might think, 'Why are they clapping for this dialogue?' It might be because they have recalled something from the first part, but other than that, this is a standalone film,” he explained.
Empuraan, which stars Mohanlal as Stephen Nedumpally, promises to expand on the universe of Lucifer both narratively and visually. The film, which is set for release on March 27, is produced by Antony Perumbavoor, Lyca Productions and Sri Gokulam Movies. With cinematography by Sujith Vaassudev and editing by Akhilesh Mohan, Empuraan is expected to deliver a visually stunning cinematic experience.
The first part of the franchise, Lucifer, became a massive hit upon its release in 2019, with Mohanlal's portrayal of Stephen Nedumpally and Prithviraj Sukumaran’s direction making the film one of the highest-grossing Malayalam films ever, crossing Rs 200 crore in just eight days.
