Film fraternity mourns demise of Sangeeth Sivan: Painful farewell, says Mohanlal

Renowned actor Mohanlal, who played lead roles in Sangeeth Sivan’s hit movies "Yoddha", "Gandhavarvam", and "Nirnayam", condoled the demise of the late filmmaker. He took to his Facebook and said that Sivan was not just a friend but a dear brother to him. 
 
Sharing a picture of the late director, he penned, "Beloved Sangeeth Sivan, who left his mark in direction and cinematography, was not just a friend but also a loving brother to me.” 
 
Recalling how the movie Yoddha has many fans even today, it is listed among the evergreen classic films in Malayalam. He continued to say, “Yoddha, Gandharvam, and Nirnayam are the films deeply ingrained in the minds of every Malayali because behind each of them was the touch of his genius. 
 
"As time passes, cultural Kerala will remember Sangeeth as a great genius, and the characters he created will remain immortal. It's a painful farewell to my dear brother.”
 
Bollywood actor and filmmaker Riteish Deshmukh, who had acted in several films directed by Sivan, wrote a heartfelt message on his X account. It read, “Deeply saddened and shocked to know that Sangeeth Sivan Sir is no more. As a newcomer, all you want is someone to believe in you and take a chance.. can’t thank him enough for Kya Kool Hai Hum & Apna Sapna Money Money. 
 
“Soft spoken, gentle and a wonderful human being. Am heart broken today, my deepest condolences to his family and loved ones, his wife, kids, brothers. I will miss you, Da !!!!! And your infectious laughter!!! Rest in Glory….”

After learning about the death of the filmmaker, actor Sunny Deol, who worked with Sangeeth Sivan in 'Yamla Pagla Deewana 2', took to X and paid his condolences.

"Shocked to hear about the passing away of my dear friend @sangeethsivan, can't believe that you are no longer amongst us, but you will always be with us in our hearts and memories . Om Shanti my friend , may your family get the strength to overcome your loss," Sunny wrote.

Tusshar Kapoor also paid tribute to Sangeeth Sivan. He thanked Sangeeth for introducing him to comedy films.

"Don't have words to describe what I'm feeling right now.... A mentor of sorts, someone who introduced me to comedy with #KyakoolHainHum is no more! Sangeeth ji, I had the honour of working with you again recently but it'll take me a long time to get over this sad news! RIP sir you will be missed! #SangeethSivan #gem," he wrote.

His brother and director Sanjeev Sivan took to his Facebook account and penned "My dear chetta (elder brother), Death has robbed us of our best but has not extinguished the light. ... RIP wherever you are,"

Political personalities including Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan condoled his demise.
