Protest in Beemapally against 'Malik'

Thiruvananthapuram: Beemapally Cultural Committee here has organised a protest against the movie 'Malik' directed by Mahesh Narayanan. The protest was held alleging that the film portrays Beemapally as the place of robbers and terrorists.

The committee members rallied in front of the mosque to stage the protest.

"The movie which based on the shootout in 2009 misrepresented Beemapally. We aim to express our protest against it," said the cultural committee representatives.

Varkala Raj, PDP State vice president, inaugurated the protest. The cultural committee also demanded that action be taken against those in connection with the shooting. They are also planning to hold further protests on this issue.

'Malik', released through Amazon Prime, weaves the story around the proximity of Ramdha Mosque. The similarity in the plot of the movie to the Beemapally incident was widely discussed after the film was released.

Many people have also come up against the movie, arguing that the Fahadh Faasil starrer had misinterpreted the real history. However, Mahesh Narayanan reiterated that the story and the characters in the movie are just a work of fiction.
