Fan accused of molesting BTS member Jin indicted over forced kiss at Seoul meet-up
A Japanese woman has been formally charged in South Korea for allegedly kissing BTS member Jin without his consent during a fan meet event held last year, prosecutors confirmed.
Indictment issued for indecent assault
The Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors’ Office said last Wednesday that the woman was indicted without detention on a count of indecent assault. The charge stems from an incident at a June 2024 “hug event” in Seoul, where she allegedly leaned in and kissed Jin on the cheek despite the interaction being strictly regulated.
The event – organised to celebrate Jin’s discharge from mandatory military service and the 11th anniversary of BTS – offered free hugs to 1,000 fans. The woman’s unsolicited act was caught on camera and circulated online, prompting immediate public criticism.
Case revived after period of inactivity
Police at Songpa Precinct initially opened a case and summoned the woman for questioning, but the investigation stalled in March. Momentum returned when she voluntarily appeared before officers, leading authorities to conduct additional interviews and review evidence.
After concluding that the allegations were valid, police forwarded the findings to prosecutors, who have now taken the matter forward for legal action.
Jin continues packed post-military schedule
Meanwhile, Jin’s professional activities have surged since completing his service. The singer recently filmed a guest appearance on the upcoming 2025 Netflix variety series ‘Kian’s Bizarre B&B’, highlighting a lighter side of his personality.
His second solo album, ‘Echo’, released in May 2025, paved the way for the ‘RunSeokjin Ep. Tour’ – his first global solo concert run. The tour began on June 28 in Goyang, South Korea, and spans 18 shows across Asia, North America and Europe, featuring new songs and fan-favourite performances.
Jin has also been announced as the global brand ambassador for Jin Ramen and is preparing for the encore extension of his fan-concert series, #RUNSEOKJIN_EP.TOUR_ENCORE.
