Prithviraj on Empuraan: There is someone who is even more eccentric than me

At the highly anticipated teaser launch of L2: Empuraan, director Prithviraj Sukumaran shared his thoughts on the film's success and hinted that a third part of the Lucifer franchise could be in the works, depending on the audience’s response. His tribute to producer Antony Perumbavoor also grabbed the spotlight.
Prithviraj expressed deep gratitude towards Antony Perumbavoor, stating that his unwavering support and understanding of the film were key to the project’s success. “It seems that those who dream big are the ones who are a little eccentric. I would have said with some confidence that there is no one as eccentric as me. There is someone who is even more eccentric than I am; he is Mr Antony Perumbavoor," Prithviraj said at the event.
Prithviraj went on to reveal that Perumbavoor was the first person to understand the vision for L2: Empuraan when the script was first read to him. “The script was read to Antony and Lalettan at Aashirvad's office in Dubai. Lalettan’s response was, ‘Antony, the kid is saying ‘five or six helicopters’.’ Even though he occasionally asks, 'Where is this going, Anna?', my biggest strength is that I have a producer who understands my film and stands by me," Prithviraj explained.
Prithviraj reflects on journey as director
Prithviraj also shared his experience as a budding director, acknowledging his early fears about being taken seriously in a field dominated by experienced filmmakers. “I’m scared when people say they have faith in the director. I’m only a beginner who is only making my third film. People say I haven’t studied film directing. But I have learned a lot. I’ve been learning filmmaking while working with the directors here. Every day, every scene, and every shot on their sets was a tuition for me,” he said.
He also credited the success of Lucifer to the audience's overwhelming response and expressed gratitude for his dedicated team. “The biggest reason for the success of Lucifer is the audience's response to it. I believe I have the best team in the world. The team that worked with me on this film is a team that can handle any big film in any industry in the world,” Prithviraj added.
