‘Drishyam: The Conclusion’ eyes Rs 500 crore worldwide after earning Rs 42.71 crore on Day 9

Ajay Devgn-starrer ‘Drishyam: The Conclusion’ continues its strong run at the global box office, collecting Rs 42.71 crore worldwide on Day 9 and taking its total earnings to Rs 452.14 crore.

According to the makers, the crime thriller recorded a 72 per cent jump in collections on Saturday, October 10, signalling sustained audience interest in the latest instalment of the popular franchise.

With overseas collections already crossing Rs 100 crore, the film is now on course to surpass the Rs 500 crore mark worldwide within 10 days of its theatrical release, the makers said in a statement.

Directed by Abhishek Pathak, ‘Drishyam: The Conclusion’ hit theatres on October 2 and has received largely positive reviews. Critics have highlighted the performances, suspense and unexpected twists in the film.

The third and final instalment opened strongly at the box office, crossing the Rs 300 crore mark worldwide within its first four days. Devgn reprises his role as Vijay Salgaonkar, a family man who finds himself locked in another battle of wits with the law as he attempts to protect his loved ones.

Tabu, Shriya Saran, Rajat Kapoor, Ishita Dutta and Mrunal Jadhav return for the concluding chapter. Jaideep Ahlawat joins the franchise as Rajveer Singh Tomar, a crime branch officer pursuing the case.

The franchise, adapted from the Malayalam film of the same name starring Mohanlal, began with the 2015 film directed by the late Nishikant Kamat. The story follows Vijay Salgaonkar, a cable operator who goes to extraordinary lengths to protect his family after his daughter becomes embroiled in a crime.

The sequel, ‘Drishyam 2’, released in 2022 and emerged as one of the year's highest-grossing Hindi films.
