Diya Suriya, the daughter of popular actors Suriya and Jyothika, has stepped into the world of filmmaking as a director with her debut docu-drama titled ‘Leading Light’. The 17-year-old filmmaker’s first project has been produced by her parents under their production banner, 2D Entertainment.

What is 'Leading Light' about?

According to sources close to the film unit, the docu-drama focuses on the lives of Bollywood women gaffers. The film sheds light on the untold stories of women working behind the scenes as light-women in the film industry, portraying their experiences in Bollywood through a blend of documentary and drama.

Where and when is the film being screened?

Leading Light is being screened at the Oscar Qualifying Run at Regency Theatre in Los Angeles, California. The film will be shown from September 26 to October 2, with daily shows at 12:00 PM.

Who features in the docu-drama?

The 13-minute film includes intimate interviews of three women considered to be pioneers in the field. According to the description on the Regency Theatre website, Leading Light captures the experiences of women working behind the camera. In addition to Diya Suriya, the film features Hetall Deddhia, Priyanka Singh and Leena Gangurde.
