Another Mohanlal film is gearing up for a Hindi remake, following the wide success of the ‘Drishyam’ franchise in Bollywood.

While the third instalment of Drishyam is expected to be remade in Hindi soon after its Malayalam release, discussions are also underway to remake another Mohanlal-starrer.

Director Tharun Moorthy, who helmed Mohanlal’s superhit film Thudarum, confirmed in a recent YouTube interview that talks are ongoing for a Hindi remake of the film. However, he also clarified that the discussions have not reached the final stage.

Moorthy revealed that the film’s strong reception had drawn interest from major Bollywood banners, including teams associated with Aamir Khan and Ajay Devgn.

“They approached me wanting to know how such a big movie could be made on a low budget,” he said. There were also enquiries from Telugu cinema regarding a remake.

The director added that he has been asked to direct the Hindi version as well.

“Aamir Khan’s and Ajay Devgn’s companies had contacted us. They wanted to understand how we managed to make a film like this on such a small budget. Remake possibilities are being discussed. There were enquiries from Hindi and Telugu industries. I was asked whether I could direct the Hindi remake. I have back-to-back commitments, so I’m not sure when I can take it up. Discussions are happening to make the film with Ajay Devgn in the lead. It hasn’t reached the final stage yet,” Moorthy said in the interview.

Thudarum was released on 25 April 2025 to positive reviews and emerged as a major commercial success. It is currently the third-highest-grossing Malayalam film of 2025 and one of the highest-grossing Malayalam films. The film also featured Shobana, Prakash Varma, Binu Pappu, Farhaan Faasil, Thomas Mathew, Amritha Varshini, Maniyanpilla Raju, Irshad Ali, Aarsha Chandini Baiju, Sangeeth Prathap and others in supporting roles.
