Dhanush's next with Vetrimaaran titled ‘Thamizh Murugan’; First look out

Dhanush has officially announced the title of his much-awaited reunion with filmmaker Vetrimaaran. On Friday, the actor shared the first look promo of their upcoming film, revealing that it has been titled ‘Thamizh Murugan’. The announcement quickly caught the attention of fans, who have been eagerly waiting to see the duo collaborate once again.

Taking to his social media handles, Dhanush introduced the film with a striking caption that read: "The Eternal Protector, warrior, THE KING & LEADER of the Thamizh people and lands. #sonofkottravai தமிழ் முருகன். THAMIZH MURUGAN."

The first look promo presents a grand visual of a commander seated atop an elephant, holding a vel (spear) as he appears to lead an army ready for battle. The visuals hint at a large-scale historical drama rooted in Tamil culture and history.

‘Thamizh Murugan’ is being produced by Dhanush's home banner, Wunderbar Films, in association with Production Miles To Go.

The film will feature music by composer Sai Abhyankkar, who continues to make a name for himself with several high-profile projects.

Inspired by Arivumathi's Book

The story of ‘Thamizh Murugan’ is based on a book of the same name written by noted author Arivumathi.

The book was written to revisit the history of Thamizh Murugan as documented in Sangam literature and to introduce readers to the historical and cultural significance of the legendary figure.

Another Reunion for Dhanush and Vetrimaaran

‘Thamizh Murugan’ marks the fifth collaboration between Dhanush and Vetrimaaran, one of Tamil cinema's most successful actor-director partnerships.

Their first film together, ‘Polladhavan’, emerged as a commercial success. They followed it up with ‘Aadukalam’, which went on to become both a blockbuster and a critically acclaimed film. It won six National Film Awards, including Best Actor for Dhanush and Best Director for Vetrimaaran.

The duo reunited for ‘Vada Chennai’, which received widespread praise from critics and audiences alike, before delivering another major hit with ‘Asuran’. The film earned Dhanush his second National Film Award for Best Actor and further strengthened the pair's reputation for delivering memorable cinema.
