Deleted clip of Suriya’s fight scene from ‘Jai Bhim’ goes viral; actor, director receive praise

A deleted clip of a fight scene from the critically acclaimed Suriya-starrer ‘Jai Bhim’ is now going viral on social media. The clip features Suriya, who plays the role of advocate Chandru, trying to protect a married couple from some armed attackers in front of a registrar's office and assisting them in escaping the ambush.
Although the makers had initially planned to include the scene in the film, they later changed their minds after Suriya reportedly insisted the director against the move, as it could shift focus away from the gravity of the issue at hand and the roles played by Lijomol and Manikandan.
As the clip garnered attention on social media, a large number of netizens are in praise of Suriya and the director lauding their decision asserting that such a fight scene was unnecessary and if used, it could have diluted the intensity of the theme presented before the audience.
“Deleted scene from #JaiBhim. Great decision to not include it in the film and commercialise it. TJ Gnanavel deserves praise,” wrote one user.
However, it is learnt that the scene has been included in the Hindi televised version of the movie.
‘Jai Bhim’, helmed by TJ Gnanavel and produced by Jyothika and Suriya, presented the tale of a tribal woman (Sengeni) and her legal battle to avenge the custodial death of her husband. The film was released on OTT in November 2021.
