Diljit Dosanjh's latest film ‘Satluj’ has been removed from Zee5 in India only a few days after it made its digital debut. The streaming platform confirmed the development through an official statement, saying the film has been "paused" in the country until further notice.

While the platform did not specify the exact reason behind the decision, it said the move had been taken in view of the "current developments". Zee5 also reiterated its support for the film and the team behind it.

Zee5 confirms temporary removal

Zee5 shared the announcement on its official Instagram account, informing viewers that Satluj will no longer be available to stream in India for the time being.

Despite the removal, the platform made it clear that it continues to stand by the film and its creators.

Platform thanks viewers for their support

The streaming service began its statement by acknowledging the response the film had received since its release.

It said, "The response to Satluj since its release has been truly overwhelming. We are deeply grateful to every viewer who chose to subscribe, watch and champion the film. Your love and support have meant a great deal to us and to everyone who brought this story to life."

'We stand firmly by the film'

Zee5 stressed that its decision should not be seen as a withdrawal of support for the project.

The statement added, "At Zee5, we stand firmly by Satluj and the creative vision behind it. We believe powerful storytelling has the ability to inspire, endure and leave a lasting impact. We remain committed to championing authentic and meaningful narratives."

The platform further explained the reason behind the temporary suspension.

"In light of the current developments, Satluj will be unavailable in India until further notice. We remain committed to exploring every appropriate avenue through due process to bring the film back to our audiences at the earliest opportunity. Our commitment to creators and to stories told with conviction, artistic integrity and purpose remains unwavering."

A film that has faced hurdles from the beginning

The latest development marks another chapter in the film's long journey. Before its release, the project was titled ‘Punjab 95’ and spent years navigating censorship issues before eventually securing a digital release under the new title ‘Satluj’.

The film had only recently become available to audiences before being withdrawn from the platform in India. Zee5 has not announced when the film is expected to return.
