The first look of Prithviraj Sukumaran’s upcoming crime thriller ‘Daayra’ is here. The newly released poster features Kareena Kapoor Khan and Prithviraj standing on opposite sides of a police barricade, hinting that the two central characters may be locked in a tense battle rather than working together.

Scheduled to release in theatres on September 18, 2026, ‘Daayra’ is produced by Junglee Pictures in association with Pen Studios. The film also marks the first time Kareena Kapoor Khan and Prithviraj Sukumaran will share screen space.

The makers have already revealed that the story is inspired by real-life events and will explore themes surrounding justice, punishment and the grey areas of human morality.

The screenplay has been written by Meghna Gulzar, Yash Keswani and Sima Agarwal.

Speaking about the project earlier, Prithviraj Sukumaran said the screenplay stood out because it refuses to push viewers towards a fixed conclusion on sensitive issues. According to the actor, the film continues to raise questions until the very end, allowing the audience to arrive at their own interpretations rather than spelling everything out.

‘Daayra’ also reunites Meghna Gulzar with Junglee Pictures, following their successful collaborations on ‘Talvar’ and ‘Raazi’. Earlier in June, the makers had shared a behind-the-scenes video announcing that filming was nearing completion, while confirming the film's theatrical release date with the caption, "Towards our finish line. #Daayra in Cinemas on 18th September 2026."

Kareena Kapoor Khan was last seen in ‘Singham Again’ (2024), directed by Rohit Shetty. The action drama saw her reprise her role as Avni Kamat Singham alongside Ajay Devgn.
Meanwhile, Prithviraj Sukumaran was last seen in ‘I, Nobody’. His upcoming high-profile action film ‘Khalifa: Part 1’, scheduled to release on August 20, 2026.
