Chennai: After much anticipation, the trailer for Coolie, the upcoming action-thriller starring Rajinikanth, has finally been released. The film, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, is scheduled to hit cinemas on 14 August, setting the stage for a major box office clash with War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR.

Coolie boasts a pan-Indian ensemble cast featuring Telugu star Nagarjuna, Kannada actor Upendra, Malayalam actor Soubin Shahir, and Bollywood icon Aamir Khan in a cameo. Veteran actors Sathyaraj and Shruti Haasan also appear in significant roles.

The trailer opens with a philosophical monologue: “When someone is born, their death is already written in their hands,” setting a brooding tone. Soubin Shahir’s character follows with a cryptic warning: “If there’s an option to wipe out a person without a trace in this world, it will spell disaster.” Viewers are then given a brief glimpse of Aamir Khan as the character ‘Dhaa’, followed by shots of Nagarjuna and Sathyaraj.

Set against a gritty backdrop of gold and watch smuggling, the stylish three-minute trailer teases high-octane action sequences and intense drama, promising an edge-of-the-seat cinematic experience.

Rajinikanth continues the star-studded ensemble trend from his previous hits Vettaiyan and Jailer. Vettaiyan featured Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, and Manju Warrier, while Jailer included appearances from Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar, and Jackie Shroff. Both films revived Rajinikanth’s box office fortunes following the underperformance of Annaatthe and Darbar.

Adding to the buzz, the film’s music has already made waves online. Two songs from the soundtrack--Chikitu and Monica--have received widespread acclaim on social media. Chikitu has amassed over 21 million views on YouTube, while Monica has surpassed 48 million.

With its compelling plot, action-packed sequences, and powerhouse cast, Coolie is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated Indian film releases of the year.
