After 16 years, Cochin Haneefa’s family moves into dream home
Sixteen years after the passing of the comic genius of a generation, Cochin Haneefa, his family has finally stepped into a home they can call their own.
Located on Ambedkar Road in Vennala, Kochi the newly built three-storey residence has been named "A.B. Manzil", a tribute to Haneefa's father, A.B. Mohammed, fulfilling a wish the late actor had always cherished.
The five-bedroom home was inaugurated in the presence of close friends from the Malayalam film industry, including actors Dileep and Harisree Ashokan. Haneefa's wife, along with their twin daughters Safa and Marwa, completed the traditional housewarming rituals.
After Haneefa's death in February 2010, his family faced legal disputes over his assets and moved into a rented house in Kadavanthra, where they lived for 16 years.
At the time of his passing, his twin daughters were just 4 years old. During those difficult years, one of the family's few sources of income came from Haneefa's Toyota Innova, which actor Dileep allowed to be used on his film sets.
The new home is also a tribute to the actor's legacy. Photographs, awards, and treasured memorabilia have been displayed throughout the house, ensuring his presence continues to be felt in every corner.
A gifted actor, director, and screenwriter, Cochin Haneefa entertained audiences across Malayalam, Tamil, and Hindi cinema with more than 300 films to his credit.

Whether making audiences laugh with comic roles in films like ‘Punjabi House’, ‘Meesha Madhavan’, and ‘Kalyanaraman’, or leaving a lasting impression through memorable supporting performances in ‘CID Moosa’ and ‘Ee Parakkum Thalika’, his effortless charm and impeccable comic timing made him one of Malayalam cinema's most beloved performers.
While he may no longer be here, his characters and now the home built in his memory stand as reminders of a life that continues to inspire.
