'Manoharam' movie assistant cinematographer and WCC member K.R. Krishna no more

Perumbavoor: K.R. Krishna (30), a film cinematographer and member of the Women in Cinema Collective (WCC), who had been in Jammu and Kashmir for a film shoot, passed away on Monday. She was admitted to the hospital after developing meningitis, which led to complications resulting in cardiac arrest.

Krishna, a native of Ernakulam is the daughter of Kodambram Rajan and Girija.

Krishna was part of the crew shooting the third film in the Telugu series ‘Hit’, directed by renowned director Sailesh Kolanu. Malayalam director and cinematographer Sanu Varghese is working as DoP (Director of Photography) in the film. Krishna was working as his associate. 

She fell ill during the shooting in Jammu and Kashmir after the schedules in Rajasthan and Arunachal Pradesh. 

Due to chest congestion, she was admitted to the Srinagar Government Medical College Hospital on December 23. But she recovered within a few days and was in touch with her family. But her condition worsened on Monday, according to a Facebook post by WCC.  

Krishna, who studied cinematography at the age of 20, was the assistant cinematographer for the film ‘Manoharam’ starring Vineeth Sreenivasan. She started her career working on commercials. 

Her brother Unni has reached Kashmir after learning about her death. She has another brother named Kannan. The body will be brought home via Nedumbassery airport on Tuesday evening. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday. 

Krishna's family runs a studio under the name Guinness in Perumbavoor, Kuruppampadi and Kothamangalam.
