‘Chin up’: Mammootty pays birthday tribute to ‘Dasettan’ with a heartwarming post

Mammootty wished Ganagandharvan (music legend) K J Yesudas on his birthday with a distinctive social media post. The megastar shared a nostalgic photograph of himself capturing an image of Yesudas. “Heartfelt birthday wishes to our beloved Dasettan,” he wrote.
 

Born on January 10, 1940, Yesudas turned 86 on Saturday. He entered the Malayalam playback music scene through the film ‘Kalpadukal’. Over a career spanning more than half a century, Yesudas has sung in almost every major Indian language.

He has also left a remarkable imprint in Carnatic music. Yesudas has won the National Award for Best Male Playback Singer eight times, along with several state awards from Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and West Bengal for best playback singer.
