‘Can't imagine anybody else in the roles Nithya has played so far’: Vijay Sethupathi

Makkal Selvan Vijay Sethupathi will soon be seen sharing screen space with Nithya Menen in Thalaivan Thalaivii, directed by Pandiraj.

The film features an ensemble cast including Yogi Babu and Roshini Haripriyan.

Its core premise revolves around two strong-willed lovers who navigate a stormy relationship where passion and conflict collide, eventually forging a deep emotional connection through their shared experiences.

The film is scheduled to hit theatres on July 25.

What has now caught the attention of netizens is Vijay Sethupathi’s kind words for Nithya Menen. The actor, who holds his colleague in high regard, lavished praise on her and her versatility as an actor at a recent promotional event for the film.

“Talking about Nithya—an actor par excellence—it is impossible to imagine anyone else playing the roles she has done in her illustrious career so far. We had previously worked together in the Malayalam film 19(1)(a), directed by Indhu V. S, in which I played a brief role,” said Makkal Selvan.

19(1)(a), released in 2022, also featured prominent Malayalam actor Indrajith Sukumaran.

“Since then, we had been thinking about collaborating on another project, and Thalaivan Thalaivii felt like the right one. Nithya fully immerses herself in her characters, often delivering performances that exceed the expectations of both the director and the crew.”

In his speech, the star also spoke about the tryst of destiny—how he had once said he would never work with Pandiraj, only to now find himself doing a film with him.
