Shwetha Menon makes history as AMMA’s first woman president

Kochi: Actress Shwetha Menon has made history as the first woman to be elected president of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) in its 31-year history. Lakshmipriya was chosen as vice president, Kukku Parameswaran will serve as general secretary, and Unni Sivapal as treasurer.
The high-profile election came after months of turmoil in the star organisation, triggered by the Hema Committee report, subsequent controversies, internal rifts, and the resignation of president Mohanlal.
Of AMMA’s 506 eligible voters, 298 members took part, marking a lower turnout than in the previous election.
