‘Remove it from all platforms’: Govt orders takedown of Nora Fatehi’s ‘Sarke Chunar’ ‘vulgar’ song

The Central government has taken a hardline stance against the latest song from the upcoming film KD: The Devil, titled "Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke”. Featuring Nora Fatehi and Sanjay Dutt, the track has sparked a major firestorm, leading the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to direct the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to take strict action. Following allegations that the song contains vulgar lyrics and sexually suggestive visuals, the Ministry has ordered its removal from all media platforms if these claims are validated.

Officials have signaled that this move is part of a broader crackdown on objectionable content in the entertainment industry. The government is currently exploring potential amendments to film certification rules to ensure that music videos and films do not bypass standards of public morality or circulate content deemed indecent.

Industry backlash and regulatory pressure

The escalation follows a formal complaint by the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA), which petitioned Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and the CBFC for immediate intervention. The association described the track as a matter of "serious public concern," arguing that the double-meaning dialogue and provocative dance sequences fail to meet the decency standards expected of Indian cinema. Critics have also joined the fray, claiming the song objectifies women and poses a negative influence on younger viewers.

With the government now monitoring the situation closely, the film's promotional campaign faces a major hurdle. The directive emphasises that the circulation of such content will no longer be overlooked, marking a shift toward tighter regulation of digital and broadcast media.
