Mammootty’s ‘Bramayugam’ secures second spot in Letterboxd’s top 10 horror films of 2024

Mammootty’s February release, ‘Bramayugam’, has made waves as it secures the second spot in Letterboxd’s top 10 horror films of 2024, becoming the only Indian entry on the list. The experimental horror thriller, directed by Rahul Sadhasivan, features Mammootty as a sorcerer and has received acclaim from both audiences and critics, grossing approximately Rs 60 crore globally.

The film is notable not just for its compelling storyline but also for its distinctive presentation, being shot entirely in black and white. The dialogues were crafted by award-winning novelist T.D. Ramakrishnan, with cinematography by Shehnad Jalal and music composed by Christo Xavier. 

‘Bramayugam’ is also significant as it marks the debut production of Night Shift Studios, a new venture from Y Not Studios focused on horror thrillers. Following a successful theatrical run, the film is now available for streaming on Sony Liv.

In addition to its recognition in Letterboxd’s top 10, ‘Bramayugam’ features in the platform’s top 25 films of 2024 alongside titles like ‘Laapataa Ladies’ and ‘Manjummel Boys’. The extended horror list also includes the recently released Hindi film ‘Stree 2: Sarkate Ka Aatank' at 23rd position.
