Box Office report: Parvathy’s ‘Ullozhukku’ continues strong run, weak start for 'Gaganachari'

The past week was eventful for Malayalam cinema, with several new releases hitting theaters and generating significant buzz among movie-goers. Audiences flocked to theaters, leading to notable fluctuations in box office collections and reflecting the popularity and reception of these highly-anticipated films.
According to Sacnilk, ‘Nadanna Sambhavam’ (released on June 21), directed by Vishnu Narayan, collected Rs 26 lakh on the first day. Over the weekend, earnings stood at Rs 1.23 crores worldwide, including gross collections from India. The movie collected Rs 40 lakh on the second day and Rs 44 lakh on the third day. The film narrates an incident that happened in a residential colony. This story weaves together intricate yet realistic lives of people we see around us.
Arun Chandu’s ‘Gaganachari’, released on June 21, garnered Rs 4 lakh on its opening day. Although it may not appeal to everyone, the film is worth watching on the big screen. Over the weekend, the film collected Rs 45 lakh in worldwide and India gross collections. It collected Rs 12 lakh on Saturday and Rs 24 lakh on the Sunday.
Christo Tomy’s ‘Ullozhukku’, featuring strong female characters, also made a mark after its release on June 21. Despite a modest opening day collection of Rs 31 lakh, it saw a steady increase, with Rs 52 lakh on the second day and Rs 62 lakh on the third day, totaling Rs 1.63 crore in worldwide and India gross collections.
‘Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil’ directed by Vipin Das and released on May 16, is already in the 50 crore club. The Prithviraj-starrer has so far amassed a total of Rs 89 crore. Over a month after release, the makers of the film have announced that the film is set to release on OTT. The movie will be streaming from June 27 on Disney Plus Hotstar.
