'If you continue..., you can leave’: Mohanlal defends LGBTQ+ couple after wildcards say they’re ‘not welcome’

The ongoing season of Bigg Boss Malayalam has taken a serious turn following controversial comments made by two wildcard entrants regarding the sexuality of fellow housemates Adhila Nasarin and Fathima Noora — the show’s first openly LGBTQ+ couple.
Adhila and Noora, who entered the house as a couple, had initially been met with support and acceptance from most housemates. However, tensions flared after wildcard contestants Lakshmi and Mastani joined the show and began voicing their disapproval.
In a recent episode, Lakshmi stated that she would never welcome people like Adhila and Noora into her home. Her remarks left the couple visibly shaken, though they chose not to respond directly at the time. Mastani later echoed similar sentiments, accusing the couple of “normalising” what she referred to as “LGBTQ culture” in society.
The situation prompted a sharp response from host Mohanlal during the weekend episode. In a promo released by Asianet, Mohanlal confronts the two wildcards head-on.
When Lakshmi claimed she personally could not accept the couple’s sexuality, Mohanlal retorted: “They don’t live at your expense. I would welcome them into my home with an open heart.” He emphasised that the rest of the housemates had no objection to the couple and reminded both contestants that Bigg Boss is a space for respect and inclusivity.
“If you continue making such comments, you can leave the show,” Mohanlal warned.
The moment has since gone viral on social media, drawing widespread praise for Mohanlal’s firm stance in support of LGBTQ+ rights and dignity.
