‘Big Bang Theory’ writers are back with ‘Hotel Sofia’, a new sitcom set in Greece

NBC is working on a new sitcom called Hotel Sofia, created by The Big Bang Theory writers Maria Ferrari and Andy Gordon. The show is currently in development and will be produced under Susan Rovner’s Aha Studios.
What's Hotel Sofia all about?
According to reports, ‘Hotel Sofia’ will be a multi-camera sitcom centred around a female hotel owner who dispenses wisdom while quietly rebuilding her own life.
Set in Greece, the show follows an expatriate running a hotel that houses a group of American foreign exchange students. While the plot is intriguing, details about the cast are still under wraps.
A reunion of sitcom veterans
This new project brings together three familiar names from the world of American television. Ferrari and Gordon, both known for their work on ‘The Big Bang Theory’ at Warner Bros. TV, are reuniting with Rovner, who served as president at the same studio.
Ferrari’s writing credits go beyond ‘The Big Bang Theory’. She co-created and co-ran ‘The United States of Al’ and also worked on ‘Young Sheldon’and ‘Call Me Kat’.
Gordon, meanwhile, has had a long run at NBC with writing and producing credits on hits like ‘Mad About You’, ‘NewsRadio’, ‘Just Shoot Me!’, and ‘DAG’ — the latter of which he co-created. He also created ‘True Jackson’, VP for Nickelodeon and contributed to ‘Last Man Standing’ and ‘Modern Family’ over at ABC.
Another big move for Aha Studios
According to reports, ‘Hotel Sofia’ is the latest development for Rovner’s Aha Studios, which she launched just last year. She’s already behind several other buzzy projects, including Barneys New York, a one-hour drama at MGM Amazon, and CBS’s America’s Culinary Cup, a cooking series hosted and executive produced by Padma Lakshmi.
