‘Best cinematic experience in recent years’: Master filmmaker Rajamouli is all praise for ‘Tourist Family’

Released alongside Suriya’s Retro, not many expected Abishan Jeevinth’s elegant family drama Tourist Family to fare exceptionally well.
However, putting an end to the scepticism, the soulful film—carrying a strong message on humanity and good samaritanship—has won the hearts of audiences and continues its successful run in theatres.
Among those who praised the film as a pure ‘joy’ to watch is S.S. Rajamouli, widely regarded as one of the greatest filmmakers of modern times.
Taking to X, the master filmmaker wrote:
“Saw a wonderful, wonderful film Tourist Family. Heartwarming and packed with rib-tickling humour. And kept me intrigued from beginning till end. Great writing and direction by Abishan Jeevinth.
Thank you for the best cinematic experience in recent years.
Don’t miss it…”
Tourist Family, already a commercial and critical success, marks Abishan’s directorial debut. He also makes an extended cameo in the film. The movie is an ode to migrants around the world, telling the story of a family of four who moves to Chennai from Sri Lanka and their struggles to build a new life far from their homeland.
The film features an ensemble cast including Sasikumar, Simran, Mithun Jai Sankar (of Aavesham fame), and Kamalesh—the young boy who has now become a sensation.
Tourist Family is a worthy addition to the long list of feel-good Tamil films and continues to earn praise from the film fraternity, including the likes of Rajinikanth and Dhanush.
