Is Vijay quitting cinema after Jana Nayagan? Astrologer predicts comeback & CM post

Speculation around Thalapathy Vijay’s future has intensified after an astrologer predicted that the Tamil superstar-turned-politician is destined to become the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu in 2031.
The prediction was made by an astrologer on X, who goes by the handle ‘AstroPrashanth9’, and has sparked widespread discussion among Vijay’s fans and political observers alike.
According to the astrologer, Jana Nayagan, Vijay’s upcoming film, slated for release on January 9, may not actually be his final appearance on the silver screen. Contrary to Vijay’s earlier announcement that he would quit acting to focus entirely on politics, the astrologer claimed the actor could return to films in 2028 or 2029, with what he described as his “final film as a hero” releasing in 2029.

“His last movie as hero will hit silver screen on 2029..!!” the astrologer wrote.
On the political front, the forecast makes an even bolder claim. The astrologer predicted a major political breakthrough for Vijay around 2030, calling it a phase of decisive success, and went on to say that Vijay is destined to assume the office of Chief Minister in 2031.

Vijay’s political journey formally began with the launch of his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK). The party is expected to contest the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, scheduled to be held in April, alongside major players such as the DMK, AIADMK, BJP, Congress and other regional outfits.
The buzz around Vijay’s future comes amid growing anticipation for Jana Nayagan, which has been promoted as his farewell film. Vijay had earlier stated that he would step away from cinema after this project to devote himself fully to public service and politics.
Meanwhile, the recently released trailer of Jana Nayagan has further fuelled excitement. The trailer opens with criminals speaking in hushed, fearful tones about a man named Thalapathy Vetri Kondan, warning others never to cross him. What follows is a montage of high-octane action sequences that reinforce Vijay’s larger-than-life screen persona.
In one moment, a child asks Vijay whether he is Superman after seeing him defeat an entire battalion. He replies modestly, “I am just an ordinary man, baby. But people say whatever I do is super.”
The trailer also reveals Mamitha Baiju playing Vijay’s daughter, Viji. In a dialogue underscoring empowerment, Vijay says, “Girls should not be scared. She must be like a tigress,” as he encourages her to join the army. The tone darkens when Viji is shown in distress, prompting Vijay’s character to hunt down those responsible.
Bobby Deol appears as the antagonist, portraying a man who claims he can bring India to its knees in 30 days through a plan ominously called ‘OM’, aimed at large-scale destruction.
The film blends action with strong political messaging. In one scene, Vijay declares, “Be it anybody who tells me, ‘I will close your chapter’ or ‘I will disgrace you’, I have no intention of turning back.” The trailer concludes with him lashing out at corrupt leaders, saying they enter politics not to serve people, but to loot and destroy innocent lives.
